Celebrating Mum and Me
Read stories of appreciation and connection this Mother’s Day, featuring the duos that have inspired our campaign from around the world. We invite you to reflect on your special bond with Mum, inspired by how others across the globe are celebrating their leading lady.
CHERYL + HER MUM
MDS:What is the fondest memory you have with your Mum?
CHERYL: I love seeing my mum with my baby nephew – he was just a few months old at the time of this memory – we were at a winery having a long lunch with my sister and my mum had walked off to let my nephew fall asleep in her arms. Cradling him and just giving her the most loving and secure embrace, it was so sweet to see my mum live out the best of grandma life.
MDS:What is the best piece of advice you have received from your Mum?
CHERYL: Love others, give generously but always have respect for yourself.
MDS:What makes your Mum one of a kind?
CHERYL: Her love for our family! She is so willing to sacrifice to serve us – anything she can do to make our lives easier she will do.
MDS:If your Mum was a colour from the MDS palette, what colour would she be and why?
CHERYL: She’s Lavender Purple – beautiful and soft, unique but just so attractive and lovely.
MDS: For Mum: What have you learnt from your children?
CHERYL: How to trust – knowing that you can only control so much before you have to have faith that you have done your best.

KELLIE HUSH & AMELIA + LOLA
MDS: For Mum, what have you learnt from your children?
KELLIE: Pure love and the ability to sit back and relinquish control. Watching my daughters grow as individuals has been an incredible privilege and it is not something I want to interfere with.
What is the fondest memory you have with your Mum?
AMELIA: When I was 6 she took me to my first ever fashion event. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever and was so excited about it but I didn’t know what I should wear. I looked to my mum for inspiration and ended up recreating her outfit exactly. We both showed up rocking the same stunning white dresses, heels and bright red lipstick. We looked pretty awesome and I had the best time!
LOLA: Getting our nails done while my dad and my sister were at AFL.
What is the best piece of advice you have received from your Mum?
AMELIA: To succeed you must work hard and persevere in the face of adversity.
LOLA: Always be true to yourself and always do things that you enjoy and love.
What makes your Mum one of a kind?
AMELIA: She is strong, independent and the most fashion-forward mum out there. She’s so loving and is definitely the coolest person ever.
LOLA: Having an amazing sense of style.
If your Mum was a colour from the MDS palette, what colour would she be and why?
AMELIA: Pomegranate because she’s bold and beautiful (and red is 100% her colour).
LOLA: Mum would be lavender purple because she is calm and sweet.
