Inside the Make Your Mark Foundation
Our most rewarding journey
2020 has given us everything so far. Bushfires, bomb blasts, a global pandemic. There has been a lot to comprehend. When we sat down a few months ago to discuss the ways we could help those suffering in both our own backyard, and across the globe, one word kept coming up: empowerment.
We asked the questions: How can we engage our dynamic community of change-makers and thought-leaders in an initiative that captures the spirit of empowerment?
How can we show the world that #MakeYourMark is not just our brand’s aspirational hashtag, but a very tangible series of actions that we can all fulfil in our own unique ways?
It was during this discussion that the Make Your Mark Foundation was conceived, a global initiative arising not just from our desire, but our duty, to give back to the community. The Make Your Mark Foundation is a natural extension of our brand’s ethos, and our opportunity to demonstrate the agency we all have to make a contribution to the world, large or small.
Our empowerment mission
The motivation for creating the Make Your Mark Foundation also stems from a deeply personal place. Having experienced the physical and emotional hardship leukaemia casts on both an individual and their family, our Founders Omar and Zane Sabré have made it their mission to use their brand as a platform to empower others on their journey.
‘Launching the Make Your Mark Foundation is incredibly significant for both Zane and I, and for MAISON de SABRÉ. As this difficult year comes to an end, we wanted to inspire our community into believing in the ability each one of us has to empower each other and bring about positive change in the world,’ says our CEO Omar Sabré.
Our partnership with Cure Cancer
The Make Your Mark Foundation is proud to announce our first partnership with Cure Cancer. This organisation funds researchers at the start of their careers, who are working across all areas of cancer research including multiple myeloma, leukaemia and rare cancers. We have chosen to support the groundbreaking work of Dr Laurence Cheung in children’s leukaemia. Our goal is to support Dr Cheung on his mission to eliminate childhood cancer, so all children can have the happy and full life they deserve.
Dr Cheung’s research has far-reaching global impacts in the universal fight against childhood cancer. His preclinical studies have been based on a treatment proven to reduce leukaemia progression children, and to increase their survival rate. This treatment will potentially benefit all children with leukaemia, a remarkable breakthrough that Dr Cheung and his team continue to work on.
With a vision to make this the last generation to suffer from cancer, we will channel our energy, resources and community support into helping Dr Cheung achieve his ultimate goal.
